The athlete was involved in a car accident near Lagos on the 29th of December, a tragic incident that resulted in the deaths of two of his close associates. Recovering from Minor Injuries Joshua had remained in the hospital while healing from his light wounds, his promoter had said on Monday. The commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement online that Joshua was declared medically stable to leave and heal privately. “Anthony and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to pay their final respects to his two departed friends as they were being readied to be sent home,” the commissioner stated. Honoring the Deceased The victims of the crash were confirmed to be Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a performance coach. Omotoso added that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and overcome with emotion over the passing of his two close friends.” His release from the hospital arrives after the boxing community offered its support for the champion in the wake of the devastating accident.
