The families of teenagers missing after a devastating inferno at a venue in a Switzerland's winter destination are facing an excruciating period of uncertainty for confirmed information and requesting clues about their loved ones publicly.

The inferno engulfed the a popular bar in Cans-Montana, located in the mountains of the Valais region, in the small hours of the first day of the year. Verified images show the ceiling igniting as bottles with fireworks are held aloft.

Authorities have stated that it could take days if not weeks to formally name the fatalities of the fire, which resulted in the death of 40 people and hurt another over a hundred. Authorities noted on Friday that the majority of the injured have been accounted for, with work still underway to identify the remaining few.

In the meantime, relatives have been taking to the internet to appeal for clues about their friends who were in attendance that evening.

Appeals for the Unaccounted For

The whereabouts of Swiss national Arthur Brodard, a teenager, are not yet determined, according to an public plea from his parent.

The resident of a town near Lausanne, informed a publication that she had gone back to Lausanne to see if he was in the hospital, while his father did the equivalent search in Bern, but was unsuccessful.

"This is a living nightmare, an ordeal. Either I find my son in the morgue, or I find him in a serious state. It's terrible," she told the paper.

She continued that some of his friends had been discovered with injuries covering a significant portion of their bodies. "It's unspeakable; they endured a terrifying ordeal."

The Italy's government has indicated that six of its young people are still unaccounted for.

Other Missing Individuals

Giovanni Tamburi, sixteen, is likewise among the missing. His mother explained that he had been on vacation but had ventured out with a group and found himself at the bar.

"A close friend said they fled after the fire started and that he had his mobile with him, but then at a certain point he they were separated," she recounted, adding he had been wearing a distinctive gold chain.

One of his teachers said, "I remember his good nature and positive demeanor, coupled with great maturity. Often ask if help out."

Alice Kallergis, who holds dual Swiss and Greek nationality but lives full-time in Switzerland, was also present on New Year's Eve, according to reports.

Her sibling has posted an appeal online, saying the family has had "no information" regarding the 15-year-old or the three friends she was with, who are also reported missing.
